Chris & CJ's Manx project

Postby Aquabuggy » 26 Fri Nov, 2010 9:48 am

For starters yep I gave up on the rail :( it now has a new home, just never could get excited about it. I guess my heart will always be in buggies.

So now I have all this extra space in the shop I look around and find I still have the old Manx body that has been sitting and waiting it's turn for the last 5 years. I also have most of the major parts laying around to build it, so It begins. No idea how long it will take but my son will be 10 in a couple weeks and really has a lot of interest in this one, now on the way home from school he ask if we can work on the buggy. Father son projects are great, I'm loving it!

This is what we have done so far
Got the torsion cut and capped
Image

fabed up a square tube chassis
Image
There's my build partner standing on the rear tire
Image

We streached the wheelbase a couple inches, does the front tire look too far forward?

Very cool Chris! Glad you'll have help on this one too....

IMO, if your going to make it a raised buggy, I think the front wheel location is fine. If it's a standard or lowered ride, looks like it'll be a bit forward to me....

Keep pics coming!

I can't think of a better investment of a Father's time with his son. Kudo's to you for being a great Dad, and can you imagine how many kids would love to be in CJ's place?

Keep the pic's coming.

Looks great Chris... Like that chassis you built. I'm sorta planning a hybrid of a full on tubular chassis and pan chassis for mine. Seeing yours laid out is giving me some great ideas.

Bryan, Here's a pic of the tow'd it still has the original ABS body cracked and falling apart. I have a new fiberglass tub and hood for it. Basically it needs everything.
Again not 100% sure that id let it go just yet.

We're still plugging away on this old manx but nothing really to show welding brackets grinding and fitting were in that long boring stage :(

Hey Bryan Porter, is your windshield gasket glued or do ya have any extra support? I cut a template and have been fitting it but it just seems like it needs some extra support.

Link needs to end with .jpg or .jpeg

From Facebook, you can find the image link by right clicking on the image and selecting "copy image address". Specific wording could be different for different browsers, but same meaning.

Thanks for sharing. Looks great.
