I was asking one of the technicians in the shop about what it will take to get a Buggy registered. He gave me a large list of information. Some we can use, and some we can not. I will put a bunch on here take it for what you will. In other words take it or leave it. I can only see a few that apply to a Buggy! I am sure this will spark a discussion.
1.) List of things to be inspected inside the vehicle.
A.) Steering
B.) Horn
C.) Turn Signal & Indicator
D.) Wipers
E.) Rear View Mirrors
F.) High Beam Indicator (1948 & Up)
G.) Seat Belts
H.) Service Brake (Foot Break & Parking Break)
2.) List of items inspected under hood.
A.) Horn System
B.) Brake System Service Brake) Look for Defects / Leaks
C.) Steering System (Check Fluids)
D.) Exhaust Systems
3.) List of items inspected under the vehicle and in fender area.
A.) Tires
B.) Brakes
C.) Exhaust System
D.) Wheel Assembly
E.) Parking Brake
4.) List the items inspected on the front of the vehicle
A.) Headlights
B.) Windshield Wipers & Tint
C.) Turn Signals
5.) List of options inspected on the back of the vehicle
A.) License Plate Light
B.) Tail Lights
C.) Reflectors
D.) Turn Signals
E.) Break Lights
6.) What EMISSION ITEMS are required to be inspected on all 1968 and newer model vehicles
A.) Thomistic Air Control (TAC)
B.) EGR Valve
C.) AIS (Air Pump) VG & US (Belt Driven) 4cyl (Power Driven)
7.) The gas Caps on all vehicles are inspected
8.) Maximum height of Safety Guards or Flaps - 12"
9.) Width of vehicle requiring commercial lighting - 80"
10.) Tail Lights on a Motorcycle - 20"-72"
11.) Height of Headlamps - 24"-54"
12.) Height of Tail Lamps on motor vehicle - 15"-72"
13.) Height of rear reflectors - 15"-60"
14.) Glass Coating Material is required on all 1988 and newer models
15.) 20% is the minimum percent reading on a tint meter
16.) They will check the front windshields and the front two opening doors for glass-coating material
17.) You can not blackout the headlights or Tail lights

a good rule of thumb is, what was on the car when new from the factory?
