Aqua's long body build

Postby Aquabuggy » 03 Mon Sep, 2007 7:51 pm

My first and hopefully last chassis build  Yea building chassis is best left the pros, it's a lot of work with steel that is heavy and coated with some nasty stuff that gets all over everything!
Speaking of the pros I gotta send a big THANK YOU to Texasbuggys and Hawkeye Buggys without there advice this would still be a pile of steel laying on the floor.

Anyway here are some pics of the progress so far.

Thanks, Bill.
Its a lot of work building the chassis, I still have a long way to go but its also very rewarding to see it coming together.

Texasbuggys- Hey thanks for stopping by and giving lots of new ideas for the chassis and cage (or maybe just confusing me more) :? Either way Thanks for the help.

I see you got busy after we left last friday, and your right about that anti rust coating on the steel it gets on everything. You have gotten all the major parts together, now it gets fun - really it's looking good.

What did you decide to do for the floor pan?

Hello chris. Chassis looks good! I'm new to this forum and I would like to become a member of the texas manx club. Yes, I'm also addicted! Ha! Ha! Me and my dad had 5 buggies between us back in the early 80's (4 rails And one manx clone). Anyway, I bought a buggy in July of this year. I found it on craigslist And drove to San Antonio and picked it up complete with hard top. Gave $1000 for it. My goal....get it repainted, engine rebuilt and rewired before the buggy roundup in Boerne. well I could see it wasn't going to be ready. So I bought another one (one I had try to buy before I bought the one in San antonio). I bought it for $500 less than my original offer! He just wanted it gone. It runs and just needed a little paint on the engine and a little tweaking on the wiring. I pulled the motor and started painting.....thinking I could still make boerne! Well...that Wednesday before Boerne I fell off a roof (I own my own roofing company), and I broke my right leg (compound fracture). Spent the next seven days in the hospital. I was very dissappointed. I couldn't wait to see the pics of Boerne. Looks like ya'll had a great turnout! Anyway, both of my buggies are on hold for now as I go back in the hospital on Tuesday (9-25-07) so they can put plates and pins in my leg. After I recuperate I will send some pics of my buggies! The first one I bought I had painted bright red (my girlfriends favorite color). It's painted and looks awsome!! I'm waiting on a friend to finish building the engine (1776)! Hopefully I will have it in a couple of weeks. The 2nd one is white with blue and red stripes and a 53 on the hood. I't looks like Herbie! Ha! Well, i've gotta go for now. I love this web site and looking at all the buggies! I hope to make Fredericksburg and Salado next year!
Hi! My name is Billy. I live in Abilene texas. I'm new to this forum/club. I am currently working on 2 dune buggys. I would enjoy meeting ya'll. Thanks.

Duner, Thanks! I really like the way the floor came out, it about broke the bank that stuff is pricey.
How's David's buggy coming along?
Still have the Manx here just pulled the body to get some pic of the pan, I put the pan in the classifieds. ya interested?

1red, Welcome to the club. Sorry to here about your leg, hope you have speedy recovery. I as well as others would love to see some pics of your buggy's. So post em up!

Only pointer is to get the chop saw off that shiny new concrete or it will be nice and brown as soon as it rains. I can prove it with pictures.

a couple thoughts for a cross brace...Check with Hawkeye (Hawkins Texas www.hawkeyebuggies.com) He could prbably whip something up pretty quick or check with Berrien buggies. The make a cross brace/steering support.

Thanks Bill, Ive really come to appreciate the quality and price of Hawkeye and Texasbuggys chassis/cages, building this stuff is very time consuming, lots of small adjustments to get the fit just rite.

big balls, Id love to build ya a cage but Ive got no time, as Im trying my best to get this buggy done in time for the 08 buggy blast.
Give hawkeye or texas buggys a call Im sure either one of them can hook you up with a great deal on an awesome cage.

Hey, Chris You're doing an awesome job on that long body. Looks great. You're going to have to slow down on all these great builds, you're making the rest of us look bad. The main thing is that you're enjoying it and having fun at what you're doing. Can't wait to see it finished.

Maybe I could jump on the fenders with velcro shoes, think that would lower it some?

What do y'all think of this bumper? Please be honest.
Not sure its gonna stay Chrissy doesnt like it and I haven't decided yet.

Looks good. What does it look like without the top hoop? Kinda open wheeled modified race car look.

I think it would look beefy and streamlined without the top hoop. Just my opinion.
And while I am offering my opinion --- You are one awesome Buggy Builder.
