Open for suggestions???

Postby S/C4095 » 25 Thu Sep, 2008 9:59 pm

Ok guys and gals, need some insight to what I need to do here. I finally set my new body on my pan and whoaaa, what happened. There were gaps between the edges and the body big time. Well after cutting the lip and sanding flush all the way around I got both sides pretty flat (some waves) with pan. The big problem is from each side going over the tunnel front and back I"ve got quite a large gap between the pan and body. What did I do wrong?? Also front shock bolts keep the body from sitting all the way down. Do I use a hole saw a little larger than the bolt so it will fit. Looks like the hood will cover it. Like I said "open for suggestions" Thanks.

That's a pretty common problem so don't get too concerned just yet. Fiberglass bodies can get warped out of shape. One solution is to go ahead and loosely bolt the body down then slowly tighten the bolts over a period of days. Setting the buggy in the Texas sun will help the process. Like Faron said it would be great if you could post some pictures especially before doing anything drastic.

I agree with Don. Don't get too alarmed yet. A lot of bodies have imperfections that you have to work around.

Hey bil how you doing. wll as you can see I didn't get this thing together yet. Lots of other priorities popped up. Well after further looking I found an area on the pan toward the left front that was kicking up the body a bit. I did have to notch out the area around the shock bolt head. Took the body back off the pan this morning so i can work it a bit. Also found the perfect seal for the gap in the front and back. So not sao bad afetr all. Just got logged with photo bucket so as soon as i get some pics loaded i'll post. Thanks all for all the help.
