Pulled Threads

Postby S/C4095 » 06 Thu Nov, 2008 9:40 pm

Went to put in my oil pressure sending unit and I could screw it in quite easily. When I tightened it it must have pulled the threads in the engine. I can still screw it in but it seams to bottom out on the large part of the sending unit. You can see the worn threads in the case. Any Ideas

Helicoil?

Not sure if it's still made (likely so), but I've used them many times on stripped/damaged threads on engines.

Should be able to find it at any auto parts store.

No, on the heli coil.....those are pipe threads! If you get a 1/8 pipe thread fitting, (short copper tube) you can put another double female fitting on that and screw the oil pressure switch on to that.
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!
