New Project is Moving Along

Postby malooga » 26 Tue Apr, 2011 10:54 am

Getting close to taking it to get sandblasted. I want to thank greg for the info on Qualitat. Mr. Decker was a great help.
I did find an auto trans and it came with the axels, shifter and cable.
After looking around at some photos I'm curious where you guys are getting your seats. I've found some in CA but would rather keep my money in Texas if at all possible.

Keep your eye on Craigslist for Miata seats.

Take it from me, VW seats will not work. Even if you shorten the base to lower them. I've tried all that, save your energy. Mine are PRO90 seats from Scat. They are perfect for the buggy. :)

Thanks Jack
I checked out those seat and they look perfect.
I was looking at yours and was wondering about the brackets. They look kinda tall.
How do you sit in relation to the windshield?

The seat has a mounting point that laps over the front of the original seat riser. Drill there and bolt them on. It becomes obvious where the rear bracket needs to be. Just a simple piece of angle bolted to the seat and the floor will do the trick.
I am six feet tall, and when I am in the seat, my eyes are looking through the center of the windshield. That's ideal. Also, the seats recline all the way flat if you want to take a nap. The sliders have ample range and you'll never need more leg room unless you play for the Spurs. :D :D

Thanks Jack
I'm right at 6ft myself and the goal was to be looking at the center of the windshield.
