More questions!

Postby Faron » 09 Wed Nov, 2011 1:20 am

I am looking for the wheels that I am going to purchase for my Buggy as I Hate the wheels that came on it I am thinking about 18" out back and 17'" in the front. I like the way Bill K has his wheels as in the width of the front as well as the back. This is what I am thinking but would like to see what other people have on their Buggy, if you would like to share please do.
At the moment I have a Speedometer, and a gas gage. But I would like to have more. I am thinking that I would like to have the Speedo, Tach, Gas, Alt, and Temp. I have seen other Buggies with more gauges but I am not sure what people have.

I had fat tires up front, and now I have skinny. It drives much better with the skinny front tires. The fat ones danced all over the road.

18 inches is pretty big for a buggy.

Yes, mine has pretty fat tires on the front now and you are right it does do the boogaloo ofer a bump. In addition to that, they look like they should be on a low rider truck from 1994. They are Butt Ugly! You think 18" in the rear will give it that roller skate look, that looks so goofy?
What about gauges, what do you have in yours?
We are going to pull the body, "clean everything up" and paint all of the suspension back to a flat black. The guy who had it before me really liked Purple. I am going to paint the fiberglass fairly often so I will want everything else to be a fairly neutral color, so they will be for the most part Flat Black and Chrome! So looking to this winters project.

I have a set of Dolphin Shark gauges. They were cheap, looked good and came with all the senders, and I just didn't use the water temp gauge.

I agree about the 18'' wheels being a bit big. I also agree about Dolphin gauges. Their price is not outrageous, and I really appreciated the clarity of their instructions. They were easy to read and follow, and unfortunately in today's world, that's not always the case.

I haven't had any trouble with the fronts I'm running. But, I'm also not running shocks and run 15#'s in them. With the adjustable beam it gives me an improved ride. The no shocks and low air presssure idea came from Michael Murzi, and it has worked great.

On my way to work this morning I was behind a crotch rocket. I got to looking at the rear tire and thought... I know I have seen pics of Sand Rails with them on the front tires. Why is it that more people dont do that, after all the look great!

Cycle tires are crowned, you would wear them out too fast
