New Year's Day Tradition

Postby ET Manx » 02 Mon Jan, 2012 12:43 pm

Did anybody help bring in the New Year with a buggy ride or any other tradition? If so, post it here!

I didn't do a buggy ride, but I did go on a 4-State New Year's Day ride on my motorcycle. (My buggy was sitting in the garage crying because I chose the bike over it. Maybe this afternoon, Sweetheart, maybe this afternoon!)

My friend Tex & I took a leisurely 350 mile New Year's Day ride through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, & Louisiana. It was perfect riding weather - sunshiny & temps ranging from 45 - 60. We left Lindale about 9:15 & got back home before dark, about 5:30.

OK State Highway 87 becomes AR State Highway 108.

I think some of our county roads are in better shape than these State Highways!

Why would anyone want to pay to go to a gun range when you have all kinds of public targets, like the road signs here, that are free?

We headed down AR SH 41 which became TX SH 8.

Our mouths were watering for some good Chinese food at the buffet in downtown New Boston, but it was closed so we settled for Mexican food down the street. We both ate kinda light - it's hard to be too stuffed with Mexican food & then try to stay awake in the afternoon!

Our next stop, after winding through the countryside on some great FM roads & eventually ending up on TX SH 77, was the town of Three States & the Three States Monument. Here we were welcomed into Louisiana in French & English. TX SH 77 becomes LA SH 1.

Tex plants his size 15 in all three states: Texas, Arkansas, & Louisiana.

We stopped in Jefferson on the way home so Tex could get himself one of those frappa mocha espresso cappucino drinks & I could get a Dr Pepper.

Made it back in plenty of time to see the Cowboys lose another chance at a Super Bowl Ring!
