This event will be a TVWDRA points race (#9), with the following details, fees, and payouts:
* VW racers will be running the 1/8 MILE at this event
* Entry fee for the VW bracket class is $35.00 (one car and driver admission). Crew members admitted for $10.00 each. 70% of the total entry fees go into the racer payout.
* Racer payout is based on car count. More than 21 cars pays the winner, runner up, and semi-finalists, while a field of less than 21 cars pays winner and runner up only.
* "Buy backs" will be allowed in the bracket class:
-- Anyone that loses in the first round will be eligible to buy back into the race. There will
be no buy backs for subsequent rounds of racing.
-- The cost for buy backs is $20.00.
-- Buy back fees will be added to the total race payout.
-- TVWDRA members who buy back in will NOT receive points for rounds won after the first
round.
In addition to the TVWDRA bracket racing, this will also be a TxPRA race, so you can look forward to seeing some badass VW Pro Stocks in attendance.
Time Trial/Fun-N-Grudge tech cards are available for $10.00 (plus $15.00 general admission fee). This is your chance to go down the track, fast or slow, with no pressure.
If interest and car count allows for it, a VW Street Class may be created and run. Details to come...
Remember - you can win a bracket race with a fast or slow car, since the race is based on a staggered start determined by your average time ("dial-in"). If nothing else, it's fun to race against your friends in a controlled environment, and you get a time slip that shows your elapsed time and speed.
Even if you're not a racer, you can still have a fun day at the track, see some fast Volkswagens, and hang out with your VW buddies. This is Temple Raceway's 50th anniversary celebration, and they've got some special attractions in store, including Jet Dragsters, ATVs, Fuel Altereds, and more.
Temple Raceway is located 9 miles south of Temple, Texas on Hwy 95 near Little River - approximately 2 hours from Dallas/Fort Worth, 1 1/2 hours from Austin, 2 1/2 hours from San Antonio, and 3 1/2 hours from Houston. Click here for a map and here for driving directions.
