Ennis Show

Postby wildthang » 29 Thu May, 2008 8:35 am

Just thought I would ask how many of the Texas Manx Members plan on boycotting the Ennis show this year as some have done in the past because their complaint is the cost of entering the show .This is an opportunity for everyone to attend a show without all the work of organizing the show. It's a perfect chance to show and talk to others. As far as the cost of the show, stop and add up the cost of you attending last weeks show !!!! I dare anyone to say its too expensive to attend the Ennis show that lives anywhere in the central, east or west Texas area and that be the only reason for not coming, the cost of entry to the show.

P.S. This is my opinion. Think about this, I don't think its the cost?

They do have nice plaques
I got one 8-)
I will ask linda but I think we are out.

you got me thinking
last week I spent close to $500 for the blast.
but that is no ordinary show.

I would spend another $320 just to attend Big Bug and staying at
Mom and Dads.
thats $820 dollars of what I consider disposable Income.

is not that we boycote the show we just feel its cost is high and choose not to go.
Buggy blast was 40 dollars got 2 shirts included.
Big bug is 80 dollars no shirts.

I was suprised to see only one buggy class?
I seen some great looking buggys never place at that show?
good luck
post some picks when you return.

Boycott is a strong word.
I don' think I boycott it. I just elect not to come.

I enjoy driving the buggy, not showing the buggy.
If someone wanted to make this a group outing,
we would love to go. But there has to be more than a car show.

It is fun to hang out at the hotel pool, do some driving around town or in the country, or hang out at sonic.

Those are the fun thinks. The three "F's" Food Fun and Fellowship.

There is nothing more fun than hanging out with you guys. But there needs to be more than just a car show in the sun.

Plan it and we will come.

Where do the proceeds from this show go? You know that every dollar you spend at the B Blast above expense is given to a charity. Greg will give us a final accounting asap. I think boycott is not the way I look at Ennis. I spend my limited funds where they will benifit the most. I choose not to attend this show for many reasons but mostly because they are too high on the entry fees and show little benefit to me or others for the money. Do not let my thinking stop anyone from attending this show.

See now I am understanding this a little more I have been told by several east Texas and Dallas/Ft Worth area members for three years they boycott this show because of the entry fee is to high and some of you are speaking out now about other reasons you wont go to this show like I said I knew there had to be more to this than just the cost of entry.

#1 No fellowship at this show - I believe I've met new friends at this show,
consider this fellowship
#2 No cruising at this show - We cruise 205 miles to this show plus
Saturday afternoon around town
#3 No return to me or anyone
else at this show to benefit anyone - I believe I've taken home a plaque
trophy, and even cash home each
time I've attended this show. Plus
refer to #1 made new friends.
#4 No get together before show like
possibly Saturday evening - This would be very possible if more people
did attend from the TMC
#5 The biggest one of all -
NO SHEEP AT SONIC !!! - I'll leave this one alone. It's all yours Bobby
to explain this one !!!

But seriously guys, I was curious why TMC members didn't like to go to this show. Don't kick me out of the club for my opinions.
