Buggy Values?

Postby mikesmotortoys » 24 Tue Jun, 2008 8:51 pm

Hey all - I'm new to this forum and looking for some quick information! I have the chance to do some trading and pick up a nice Hawkeye buggy - about 1 1/2 years old, 2 seater with a 1200cc stroker motor. How or where can someone find what the actual value is on it?

Do you have photos of it, and what are they asking for it. I am sure that with this group we can help you with a price!

No images available in a url format. Could email them to someone. Price? The owner is looking at trading for an ATV side by side and some cash. VW is titled as a 1973. I talked to Neil at Hawkeye and he gave me some "values", but I'm in business not to loose money and needed to know if there was a nada or kbb book value site for dune buggies. Can I post a phone number on here? If not, some one who is an expert, please pm me![/img]

Neil is a pro I am pretty sure that he is VERY close when it come to the value on this Buggy. I am a car salesman in a large dealership, and have been for about 8 years. I have even been a Sales Manager as well. (Hated IT!) Its very hard to give you a value on the little information we have here. I will not even guess at a car over the phone when I am at work, and I have a Car Value Guide book to follow. Either way I hope it works out best for you. I am sorry but you are not going to find a kit car on KBB any other Car Value Guide.

By the way if you are thinking about trading in your full size truck or SUV...DON'T! If you look your truck up truck on kbb.com under trade in value, look at that number and cut it in half and that is what they will offer you. The gas crunch is killing used car values! In some parts of the country the auction will not even let you run one. On the other hand if you are looking to buy one, NOW is the time! I would love to trade off my GTO for a full size truck!, but I am $6000. upside-down on it!

At least your truck is useful, my GTO is a 4 Seat Sports Car that gets 12.7MPG!

I'd check the classifieds on someplace like the samba or DuneBuggy Archives website to get an idea what prices buggies are fetching. That gives you some independent information to compare back to.

The TMC is the closest thing to nada you will ever get for a buggy. 8-)
site unseen about 8 K for what you describe
with no problems and Good condition.
to be more acurate we need at leats 5 picks and most of us could be within $500 of each other.

Neal is realy the expert what did he say
if it aint broke, break it then fix it

Thanks for the info. Neil stated in the 8K range. However, it is a 'trade in' and not exactly what I would buy if I purchased one for myself. I would rather have a 4 seater, plus I like the side panels I have seen on some of the buggies posted here. The hawkeye looks like it is brand new, yellow body with white frame / rails. I would be happy to email pictures to someone who knows how to post them here!

I saw a link for someone that was brining in brand new 4 seater bodies for $1500, that plus a donor VW in decent running condition & you off on to a good start.
