Roll on Bed liner?

Postby Faron » 04 Fri Jul, 2008 1:45 am

I am thinking about putting Roll on Bed Liner on the bottom of my chassis, as well as most of the top. I want to clean up the top of the tunnel and paint it to match the color of the carpet I choose.
I have always been told that you have to sand down to bare metal for the Roll in Bed Liner to adhere. With my last buggy that was pretty easy. But this one does not have new pans, and I am having a hard time getting EVERYTHING down to bare metal. Does everything have to be off the metal for it to stick? HELP I don't want to spend a month sanding on this thing...

We all know that Faron is cheap and will have a hard time paying someone to sandblast this thing............

Ohhh and I almost forgot, a friend mentioned that I should apply the Roll on Bed Liner on the underside of the Fiberglass Body as well. What do you think?

I dunno about the underside of the buggy, i was thinking the same thing. I can't remember the name of the product right now, but there's a liner that you can paint over.

I guess I'm lucky my buggy is black

We'll I'm getting ready to do this to my chassis this weekend, except not on the bottom.

The underside will just be a textured black paint, while the topside will be the roll in bedliner. I am using the Duplicolor kit.. when reading the directions it says you only need to scuff up any existing paint, not go down to bare metal.

Never used the stuff myself, so I'm curious to see how it turns out

It's not necessary to go to bare metal, and I wouldn't without priming it first, then scuffing it with a scotchbrite. Here is a link to a good DIY roll on bed liner. Scroll down the page and read the second product review.

Good luck

I have used the Herculiner product as well. Its tough as nails and looks good. I use it on the pan, and underside of the bodies.
