Postby buggyryan » 05 Tue Aug, 2008 11:32 pm

hey guys i won a jamar pedal set on ebay and it is really nice but it is a single port brake master. do i need four wheel brakes to be street legal or can i just run front disc and empty rear drums. if i have to i will just replace the brake master from jamar with a dual piston master. just curious does anyone have a kind of list or something of all neccesary equipment to get inspected. also does anyone have pics of how they have the pedals mounted?

From the DPS website:

"20.02 Brakes. Every passenger car, truck, bus, school bus, and motorcycle shall be equipped with brakes acting on all wheels..."

You can check all the required items here:

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/inspection/item_insp.asp

A single port master cylinder can be teed to brake all four wheels.

I have run the single brake line to a block and used it for all four brakes

Personally I would be hesitant to do so.. Yea its possible, but dual circuit is better. I would only go with single circuit on an off road car..On a single circuit, you loose brakes at one wheel, you loose them all

Just my opinion though..

If I recall.. there is a year cut off where dual circuit brake systems were required by manufacturers.. even if you fell past that date, I doubt anyone would call you on it..
