Postby Patrick » 22 Fri Aug, 2008 10:06 pm

12 hours later and we are here! Alot of Sandrails running around with a few Fiberglass buggies. Looks like it will be a good and big show tomorrow. We got a preview of the show tonight with the cars parking so I'll post those.

Paul Smith and his brother are up here. Sammie is up here with his panel bus. Steve and Sharon are here from Fredericksburg. Have not seen anyone else we know yet.

Saturday Show Pics

Postby Patrick » 23 Sat Aug, 2008 11:47 am

Well it's raining here. As you can see from all the people under the Convention Center Cover. We left the show as we don't have any VW's in it. Here are the Saturday show pics. Check out the buggies and the Electric Bug.

A very memorable weekend, this Eureka Springs. I met some extremely wonderful folks from Texas. Some were members of the Texas Manx Club, others from a club over by Tyler.
I received some great build advice from those that have been-there, done-that. Can't ask for better schooling than that.
Could have done without the danged rain, but it was a great weekend. I saw a white GMC or Chevy pick up that had Texas Manx on the door of it. I'm sure this was the fella that I met at the show that has 2 Manx buggies. One white and one green. [ I really suck ay remembering names ]
You have a club to very proud of. Very proud indeed. I can't thank all of you enough for letting this ol' Missouri boy be a part of this club. Sure makes me proud.
That's enough for now. Ya'll will get the big-head. See ya.
Manx 2 that's really buggin' me and I love it.

Eureka Weekend

Postby Manx34 » 25 Mon Aug, 2008 12:54 pm

Bob, Yes it was the guy with the white truck that you talked to. {Jimmy Davis} Jimmy had a great time visiting with you and talking about buggies. The weekend turned out good, even though it rained. The parade was great and the show was even better for the Manx Club.
Raymond Tuthill took first place in our class, and then he was awarded Best of Show and that is only the second time in the history of the show and the other time was the year of the buggy. Hope to see all of you club members at Ennis.

Eureka Show

Postby Manx34 » 25 Mon Aug, 2008 3:45 pm

Chris, They put the dune buggies and the kit cars in the same class and two kit cars won 2nd and 3rd. I have no idea who they were. They need to make two classes instead of putting them together, maybe they will next year.

Rail ?

Postby Patrick » 25 Mon Aug, 2008 7:17 pm

I was trying to get to this person before they left the store on spring drive, but my wife yelled at me as we needed to pay for parking and I turned around and they were already driving off. I wanted to get up to this car and get some closer pictures and get his name to tell him about our club. Did anyone else see this person at the show or get his name? He was driving off so I snapped his photo.

First off would like to Thank Jimmy Donna and Cody for thier great company. The rain couldn't put a damper on any weekend as long as you have freinds around you like those three. Wish more could be there . Thanks Chris W and Bobby For the recognition on Raymond's buggy.Would not have been possible without the fine body and side pods that we purchased from :P " TEXAS BUGGIES " :P
I believe this place is out of Victoria Texas. And is a great Texas Manx Club sponsor

Thanks Ray

Y thanks for the kind words Mr R.! You and Raymound could have made an old fiberglass boat look like a championship racer with both your guys skills and lets not forget the support team, the two great ladies and co-piliots that are right there with ya all the way enjoying this really great thing we all call buggy madness! Again hats off guys for one heck of a build! Each time the bar continues to rise and boy it has been raised in the past few years within this club. Oh and Sabre said when is the wedding? We want to make sure we can make it!

Trip

Postby Patrick » 30 Sat Aug, 2008 2:47 am

Finally back from Arkansas trip. Got home just a bit ago. Saw a bunch of VW's in the North West Corner of AR where we were staying driving around. Then we went thru Hot Springs and saw a few Bugs. Yesterday we ended up in Canton, Texas and there was a couple of buggies for sale, but they needed a lot of work and they wanted $3500.00 for them and for what was wrong with them they were not worth it.
