Relocation...to East Texas.Dallas

Postby MURZ » 13 Fri Feb, 2009 8:53 am

Looks Like I may be moving to the Dallas area over the next 3-4 months. I will be calling on Trailer manufacturers out in east Texas....so I am wanting some feedback as to where to move. What I would like to find is a nice area, good schools, that the houses are resonably priced. Looking for place in the 275-300 range. I can not be in a sudivision where the neighbors peer through the mini blinds every time I crank or tune a VW engine. Also I have a lot of stuff that needs to go in the back yard...boat, car trailer, etc.

Possible choices:
Mckinney
Plano
Forney
Canton

we hope to visit the area in a week or two to look around. Any Ideas???

Well - as we already discussed you know my recommendations.

McKinney, Frisco, Prosper are booming right now and you can still find some semi-rural areas that would give you greater flexibility with all your toys. All are served by 121 which is a new tollway right to the big airport. If you want a little more rural, Anna, Van Alstyne, Celina are going to be where Mckinney, Frisco, Prosper are in a couple of years assuming the economy turns around.

You are welcome to stop by here, Lisa and I would be happy to show you around a bit.

I am planning to drive up there next week. Hope to visit all areas around Dallas just to get some ideas. It looks like several accounts are out in East Texas around the Mt. Pleasant, Tyler, Longview, area. But I still have accounts waaay on the other side of Dallas too. We will see...

If you decide to move to Dallas, this story may be some help.

A young father once decided to move his family to Dallas and set off discovering the different neighborhoods. He visited Casa Linda, Stevens Park, and several others until he found himself in the center of Pleasant Groove on Elam Road. At that very moment, both of his small children pooped in their diapers, his wife had an uncontrollable urge to make love in the car, and he felt like stealing something.

Make your decision wisely.

I think he is saying if you drive through Pleasant Grove, make sure you have a car with a big backseat? ;-)

Hey Murz,
Great to here you are coming West. Let me know what you are really looking for. Are You interested in the East Texas Area???
AS you know, I'm in Wills Point on 20 Acres. That is 1 Hour east of Downtown Dallas.
Everything has moved as far north as it can and now it's moving East.
Canton is a real nice Area That is about 1 hour and 15 min from Downtown Dallas, and from there you can travel North on hwy 19 to I-30 to your Mt. Pleasant account.

Are you wanting Acreage???? There are a lot of places out this way that include a house and 5 acres in that price range

I enjoy looking for real estate. I will keep an eye out.

Hey Murz, glad to hear you may be moving to Texas, maybe I can rope you into doing something other than offering intriguing "suggestions" in a vicarious attempt to get me to spend more "minty fresh" cash on my buggy:P

BTW....if/when you build another, be sure to let me know, so I can return the favor :P

We recently moved to east Tx in the Tyler area and we really like it here, there is a lot of nice.country and some good fishing too! For some reason the economy is'nt in as bad shape as a lot of places. As far as prices you can get a lot of house for 200 to 300. My Brother lives in Frisco and it is very nice but as far as working late in the garage you might get some flak if it's noisy. Good luck in Wherever you decide I'ts a big state You'll find somewhere you like. Fred

Hope to been in and around the area Mon-Thurs. We plan on driving up to around Longview on Sunday night and then strategically hitting as many towns as we can in a couple of days. Should be interesting.....

Hey Murz,
Check out Shadow Lakes in Wills Point. It's right off the I20 interstate. It's a new High End Neighborhood. Edie wants to buy a lot out there. Kind of pricey but real nice. Also don't forget Canton. Good Luck

Hey Murz,

Nobody has mentioned up here where I'm at in Sherman..Where I live I'm 10-20 minutes from lake Texoma, hour from Dallas...Prices are very reasonable.. I live right off 82 so in 5 minutes I'm in "town" My neighbor bought his place about 8 months ago and I think he gave like 200k for it four bedroom ranch house on 5 or 6 acres with horse barn 4 car shop in addition to the garage "party barn" and as far as stuff in the back yard well I have 5 in the back 2 in the garage and 3 in the drive way.....and I have fewer than my neighbor does....My place is a 3 bedroom 2 bath double wide on an acre with 2 car garage, 75k.......just a thought...

Had the opportunity to meet Mr. Murzi and his lovely wife last night, talked a little buggy and enjoyed some cajun fare in celebration of Fat Tuesday.

Contrary to what y'all told me, I think he's a nice guy ;-)

Yeah, My wife said,"you know this guy" I said nope, but he runs with a pretty good crowd

After a long exhausting week, and endless house viewings, school interviews, etc, I decided to stick it out where i am. With the uncertainty of my wife getting a job, it is too risky to move in today's climate. So for now you guys are safe.

Not sure what would have happened if I were to have moved. I think i got two or three "hey, I know where a buggy is" emails in the last couple of weeks.

I really appreciate the hospitality and can tell you it is really heart warming knowing I have friends all over the place...and if any of you are in my neck of the woods, I would be glad to reciprocate the welcomes....
