So I can't keep the secret any longer... barring any unforeseen complications, I will again be a buggy owner over the weekend. Now that the dust has settled on us buying our house and we've gotten some stuff taken care of, I've been eying projects again.
I recently finished building a small motorcycle project I took on at the beginning of the year. It turned out nice and ran good, but was just a 500 and lacked the power I'm used to when riding two up compared to my previous bike (Suzuki Bandit 1200). We'll after talking with the wife (who still really wanted a buggy) we decided that it would be fun to try and find another one to work on as a future project. So over the weekend I started to search craigslist, and wouldn't you know I found a project that had my name all over it. So up went the motorcycle for sale, and I made contact with the owner and struck up a deal on the buggy. I'm telling you the stars must have just been aligned right for us, because within an hour of listing the motorcycle for sale, I had a buyer at my house and they bought it on the spot. Talk about luck, now I don't even have to front ANY money to buy the buggy.
To make a long story short.. we are headed down to Rockport on Saturday to go pick it up. We should be coming up for the day on Sunday to the Classic and I hope to catch up with some of yall there. We won't be in the Bug though as I'm chasing down a couple of problems with it right now. We both really enjoyed the two buggy shows we went to last year, and think that yall are the greatest bunch of VW folks we've met yet. We are pumped and are looking forward to being able to cruise with yall in our own buggy soon.
Without further ado... here is the project.

Hey Chris.. does that chassis look familiar? I believe its the one you were selling a while back.
We'll its definitely a project, and I'm going to pull a Cory and put a lot of blood sweat and tears into fixing up old glass. One things for sure, I've got more time than money. (I've also got a good friend up in Dallas that does autobody for a living, and should be able to help me get some color sprayed on it down the road.)
This will again likely be a long term project.. but I'm hoping to have it running for next season if not sooner, I guess we'll just have to see how it pans out.
Anyways.. just thought I'd share. I'll be posting up a new thread in the members project section once I get it home and get some good pictures of everything.
