Padre Island

Postby Fred » 10 Sun May, 2009 12:47 pm

I was just looking at the Padre Island National seashore website and it says it's ok to drive on the shore for 77 miles, HOW COOL IS THAT!! It would make an awesome cruise for the club. The only thing is they call it a 4wd area but It probably wouldn't be a problem. Just something to think about. Has any body here ever been? Fred

I have been there with a rail about five years ago and it was fine. A buggy would have no problem. The only thing is make sure when you get off the beach to wash and wash and wash your car. I washed my rail several times and my dad didn't wash his everything on it got a light layer of surface rust and it took us FOREVER to clean it ll up. Guess it was the salt in the air.
Get out and Drive,
Mike

Been there several years ago in a jeep, all the way to the end and back. That was a very long day bouncing around in an old CJ7, it would be alot of fun in a buggy as a buggy rides 100 times better then the old jeep.
I don't see any problems for a buggy in 4x4 area its just sand and after all that's what Bruce built them for.

They should make a dedicated spot just for off road vehicles,so there wouldnt have to be so many rules.
