Have you ever get that sinking feeling....

...in the pit of your stomach? I did yesterday. Went to clear out the barn so I could move the buggy out of the barn & haul it back to the metroplex so I can start to work on it. Started rummaging around & noticed alot of my VW stuff missing, and the more I looked the less I found. Was specifically looking for a set of DP heads & a case that came out of an old 73 I had.
Then I noticed that not one but 2 Progressive Webber setups were also missing. I didn't really freak out untill I noticed the buggy parts missing.
No wind shield any more & the soft side doors that were part of the original top & probably unreplaceable are gone, along with the aluminum bows for the top.
Yeah, that was my weekend.
The only positive is that all the brand new metal & rubber brake lines were still there along with the brake pads & new alternator to convert it over from the old 6V generator.

No it is stored on our farm in East Texas right now. It wasn't stolen, that's the tragic part about it. All the parts were previously inside a 66 VW that was "given away" by my family to some friends for their daughter. The were told specifically that none of the parts inside the car were to go with it. Aparently they did not listen. Now the 66 has been sold off by the "friend" & I fear I will never recover the hundreds of dollars worth of parts that went with it.
It was just one of those moments when you hoped you were adopted for fear of inheriting moron DNA. Not much I can do but drop more change into the project.

It just dawned on me that there was a high dollar aluminum beam inside the old 66 too.
