PULLING MY ENGINE

Postby KIM-P » 01 Sat Aug, 2009 7:53 pm

IS IT COMMON TO HAVE TO LIFT THE BODY UP ABOUT 5" TO GET THE ENGINE IN AND OUT? I've seen some bodys with a more exposed engine compartments and some have rear aprons that goes farther back past the engine ie covers more of the engine. My apron is about 1/8" from making contact with fan cover and had to be notched for generator and oil cap clearance. I have no idea who made my body. the fan shroud is a stock dog house with the heater tubes removed.
It's EASY.... if you know how.

I had to lift my body up a few inches to pull the engine.

Are you rebuilding or ??? I have an engine stand if you need it.

Nope, just pulled it to to repair some oil leaks and install the dog house oil cooler. I didn't like the 8 pass oil cooler that was on it. and it gave me a chance to clean and paint a few parts, I used black wrinkle paint on most of the tin. It came out better then expected. :D
I still have most of the speicialty tools for aircooled from back in the day. The only tool that ive lost is my clutch alignment tool that was an old trany input shaft. Best clutch alignment tool I ever had. BUT THANKS FOR THE OFFER DON.
