Non VW or Buggy items for sale section??

Postby BrianB » 03 Tue Nov, 2009 8:30 am

I am thinking we should add a space to the classifieds for non buggy related sales and wanted adds. Some times I have tools or other items that might be of interest to other members that I would rather sell to. Just an idea. Maybe the site Mods can chime in on this one.

I don't have a problem with it. I've got a lot of stuff I could un-load, i mean sale. Like an RV and a jeep.
Sounds good to me.

Don't sell the RV we are getting our RV ready to go camping and we need others to go too.

Now back to the topic of adding a other items catagory. I would sure like to have a shot at buying Davids RV if I had the money and if I actually had a vehicle to pull it. I just think we could create a little more traffic on here by adding it. The more traffic the more we all become involved with the hobby 8-)

David's RV has a motor - wouldn't need to pull it...

Here's the thinking behind the way the buy/section section is set up.
By keeping it VW/Buggy related (I guess an RV or tools would be buggy related) we keep the forum geared toward buggies. We also aren't inundated with ads for things like "Uncle Arthur's Led Zeppelin concert T-shirt or my old worn out tennis shoes, etc.

Personally, I think we should keep it as is. If you post an ad that's too out there, we'll delete it. But, it's not my board. If the group really wants to open it up to sell whatever ya got, then we'll do that.
Thanks,

I'll cast a vote towards putting in the extra section for non buggy or VW related items.

I kinda like the idea. I guess if it gets out of hand we can delete it.

I'll vote against. If a forum has too many sections it just seems slower. Look at texasaircoolers. There are so many sections it looks there is no traffic at all.

If you have something to sell post it. Worse that could happen is the post gets deleted

my two cents

I like the idea... Specially since only members can post in it anyway. But put a limitation on it such as no buisiness adds or websites unless they are a paid sponser of the site.
Thanks Joe

I like the ideal and concept but like Greg said it will be very hard to maintain unless possibly it is setup to where only approved members can post to it or reply. Maybe set it up to where approved members can post and leave a phone number or e-mail for others to reply to.

I feel that it is just one extra line in the classifieds that wont inundate the site with an impossible to navigate experience. I wouldnt mind if someone had a tool or other items that may be a good deal that I could use at a later date. I wouldnt mind passing along things that I might not want anymore but a fellow buggy nut might be able to use. If the feeling is we dont want that here I'll just keep my deals and look for deals on the other sites. I will support whatever the decission is.

Tools can certainly be buggy related. Even an pccasional RV or ToyBox. Go ahead and post. If it's too out there the moderators will delete it.
