Buggy Blast 2020 - DOOM BUGGY award

Postby Ken » 29 Mon Jun, 2020 3:19 pm

I can't help but wonder what the final outcome was from the ADVENTURES of the Buggy Blast???????
I assume this was deferred to "committee"?

The current DOOM BUGGY holder, member "BobsBuggy", has the plaque (Buggy Blast 2017) but never received the name plate??? Honestly I can't remember breakfast, so not sure who might have it and what we need to do to get it caught up and squared away. Or are we thinking it's time to retire this award? Can someone/anyone from the awards committee post up? Bob has heard some stories and I expect he may be happy to offer a passing. We know Porter was happy to give it to him.

I am not part of the obviously prestigious and exclusive “awards committee,” however I do recollect the events surrounding a possible transfer of the Doom Buggy award away from Bob. One of the committee members will have to call a virtual meeting with other members and let us know a decision.

The first buggy to break down was on the Sunday cruise shortly after our pit stop at the gas station. After about 2 miles on the next leg of the cruise, Leadfoot Porter (Bryan in this case) apparently tried to pop a wheelie in Keith’s 5,000 horsepower orange buggy and blew out the transaxle. After arrangements were made to get them back to camp, the remaining buggies started back on the cruise again.

After a few miles, we were sidelined again when a pin that was “too long” had been installed by Staggerwing in his fuel pump, and it just fell out? Since it could have been anywhere along a long stretch of road, we did not search for it.

At this time we already had multiple buggies out of the cruise – Sergio had decided not to try the Sunday cruise and was immediately given the rubber chicken by Ken, and two or three buggies had stayed back to help Leadfoot get his buggy back to camp. So, I made the decision that we would stop cruising at this point and get everyone back to the hotel as quickly as possible so that Staggerwing could go and get his buggy back.

So that’s my recap. If anyone else has anything else to add, please do so. The award recipient(s) is now in the hands of the committee, and we will all await their final ruling.

Yeah, I’ll be sure to remind you to pay him next time we’re together!

We actually have an awards committee? I need to get on that one so I can vote.

we should just go for a buggy ride. but dang it is hot out there.

anyone working on updating / fixing their title to the newly released process?
what's your take on the procedure?
any problem finding an ASE signoff?
what did they charge, for ASE inspection?
does the current (uummm..."outdated") title being used as "proof of purchase"?

Guess most all of us are about to work on this. Will be nice to have a legal buggy back on the road, but I miss my rail. That still hurts.

Great job Faron, ScottR and everyone who supported that effort.

thanks

I would assume being a nominee for the Doom Buggy Award omits you from the committee Richard.
Just take the award proudly and dont make me tell everyone about an incident that involved a tractor and your Buggy at the end of your driveway!
