Ryan and I went and picked up his Buggy/Rollcage on Wednesday. I have it in my garage because I told him that I would smooth out the welds and prime it up. Here is my problem, I dont know what is better to use. I have been using Bondo, but cant keep from wondering if lead or something else would be better. What do you guys think?

I also took my buggy down to get a Front & Rear Bumper made! I am excited to get it back.

The amount of dust and heat required to work with lead would not be worth the health hazards! Stick with the bondo and wear a mask!
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!

metal prep is the key.. don't use a grind wheel, you should use a sanding flap disk.. I'd say 80% of the smoothness will come from that.. after that, use a PALM SANDER with 60 grit, you won't believe how nice it comes out.. then, the THIN layer of filler... good luck!

Cage Gauge

Postby staggerwing » 31 Thu Aug, 2006 8:36 am

Very handsome cage! What's a typical gauge for a cage? Tubing thickness that is.

i would think all the supports could be of .090" wall
but the main hoop should be at least .120" DOM
Drawn Over Mandrell
the tighter curved pieces look well but are realy unsafe from a structural
standpoint
I was told 4" radi for every 1" of diamiter 2" OD= 8" raidus bend
just like in the picks
did you guys
re designe the mounting points to attach at the flange or are they still on the pan?
I see they are still on the pan ?
