Fuel Pump

Postby Jack Duncan » 25 Sat Oct, 2008 11:04 pm

I need to know how dependable the little rectangular 4 psi fuel pump is. It is made in China and distributed be Empi. I bought one, but for some reason I don't trust it. I think I would prefer the vane type that puts out 6 psi used with a pressure regulator. I just don't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with pump problems. :?:

I've always done very well with the stock pump. Even had to add a second gasket under it to lower the pressure...my kads didn't like it with only 1 gasket. Runs like a champ and has never let me down.

Thanks GregR but I am running dual Weber 44's. I've been told I have to run an electic pump. This was a turnkey engine and the mechanical pump opening is blocked off. :?

Thanks Chris! Your pump is just like the one I bought, but mine is from China. The price was $23, so at that price I could carry a spare. I also have a Holley vane type from an old project. It stalled on me once,so I didn't trust it anymore.

Put the pump on and run it.....but at the same time a stock pump will pull duel 44's.
Electric pumps work or they don't, usually it is the wiring and not the pump.
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!
