Indicator light

Postby Jack Duncan » 29 Thu Jan, 2009 12:01 am

The indicator light that excites the alternator is required for the system to charge. My question is, does the light stay on when the engine starts? If it does, I need to put it where it is not in my line of sight when cruising at night. I'll put it low and out of the way. :?:

No, it goes off after the engine is started and only comes on if the alternator stops charging. Also, be sure to use a filament type bulb for the light. An LED will not work, current has to be able to flow both directions.

You also have to give the throttle a stab to get it over 2000 rpm or so to get things going. The light won't shut off at idle alone.
