Brake line kits -n- stuff

I noticed that the brake lines on jbpstown (Jeffs ) Buggy looked awesome and I was wondering if that was a kit or just masterfully put together. Also While I'm at it is there a trick to getting all the lines that go thru the tunnel pre-shortened as my pan has been cut down . fuel,clutch and brake all the stuff that came with the car was rotten. thanks Fred

Thanks for the kind words.

There are VW brake line kits that sell all the lines you need in one package. I highly recommend them. All my lines were bent using a bender. They are cheap. Like these:

Take your time and you can get great results.

For the tubes...the clutch and e-brakes will probably need some serious work. I have never had any rot on me (and I am in the salt& sand Northeast) so I can't help.

On the Manx I ran both the fuel and the rear brake lines under the chassis. I did this because I didn't want to cut the tunnel to secure the fuel line and I didn't want the brake line inside the drivers area (purely for looks). I ran them down the center of the tunnel and secured them with insulated clips that were riveted into the tunnel. I then covered them with Herculiner.

I did'nt mean to mislead, the tubes the clutch cable and E- brake cables ride in are fine. I meant fuel and brake fluid lines and how do you shorten the clutch cable. It looks like you can get to the tunnel from that front service plate but how do you keep em from rattling around and/or interfering with the shifter assy. I think I will go down the passenger side of the tunnel right in the corner where it meets the floor pan inside (Steel lines) I'll figure out a way to hide em later. Fred

Brake lines were never meant to be run inside the tunnel. They ran down the lower side of the tunnel inside the car.

Fuel line can be a bear to re-do. You can snake it inside the tunnel. I usually like going from the front to the back. You can remove the shifter and the e-brake and use some heavy zip ties to secure it along the way. I would secure it at the front, at the shifter hole, the e-brake access, and the rear. I would also slit some rubber fuel line and use it as an insulator where ever you zip tie it. You will need VERY small hands and LOTS of patience.

You can also cut access holes in the tunnel and weld them closed after you attach it.

If yor buggy is a street buggy you should really consider running them outside the car. Its done on many cars like this from the factory.
