steering box or rack....

Postby matter396 » 26 Thu Feb, 2009 3:05 pm

trying to decide whether to go with a steering box or rack on the new car. I have heard people say that with a 6in wider front beam that the box gives alot of bump steer but also that the rack is so fast that on the street it is a very uncomfortable feeling. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anybody tried the differences and know which is better.

King pin front
6in wider
coilovers and 1in wider arms
Get out and Drive,
Mike

You can get bump steer with ether rack or a box, the bump steer is caused from having too much angle on the tie rods. The tie rods should ideally be level from the rack or box to the spindles, well there's a little more to it then that but ya get the idea.

I can only speak from my experience with a 5" wider beam and the stock steering box works great.

I think Raymond is running a stock box with a 6" wider link-pin beam and 35" front tires, as far as I know its working well for him as well.
