The tube that the throttle cable goes through the engine shroud in. Does the flared end go towards the rear of the car or towards the front of the car?

It goes toward the rear. You should put the non-flared end of the tube into the shroud from the alternator/generator side so when it is completely installed all that shows from that side is the flared end.

Rear. It's supposed to be loose in the tin to allow some movement. A rubber tube connects the forward end of the tube to the tube coming out of the chassis.

OK - I did it right then. But I wasn't aware there was a rubber tube between the two.

Anything special tubing wise? Or just something to keep the debris out of it?

Mine's just plain ol' tubing from the hardware store.
