Alternator Light...

Postby CajunBuggy » 01 Fri May, 2009 1:14 pm

Does anyone know if the light is burned out, will the alternator not charge? If so, does anyone know where in Dallas can you get those stinking tiny bulbs? LOL

Thanks,

Matt

Correct...without the resistance of the bulb you will not "excite" the alternator.

Can't help you on finding a replacement. I bet your local NAPA would carry them though.

The lamp is an "excitor" for the alternator so yes, it needs to be functioning.
Call David at aircooledparts.com (one of our sponsors) he's just down the road from you.

I went to Radio Shack to get mine. It is an incandecent bulb which is red and about 1/2" diameter. It is for things like model trains and other hobbies. They come two in a package, but you'll have to fabricate a bracket out of a piece of aluminum angle (Home Depot) or something. :)

Swapped out one of my lights that was lighting my speedo and got it working. Thanks everyone. I am going to grab a few lights online next week.
