Adjustable beam question

Postby fullup12 » 02 Thu Jul, 2009 7:41 pm

If you adjust the beam down all the way do you lose suspension in the front end? All the way down puts the front end where I want it but I'm concerned about the ride. Would it make more sense to use dropped spindles and take some of the adjustment out?

That's exactly what I did. I have dropped spindles and adj front end. I went all the way, and it was too low. I adjusted it up a little. The ride is perfect. I also run stock shocks. It takes the bumps really good. :)

Thanks Jack. I ordered the spindles today. It was cheaper to buy them with my brakes than to buy them later. I want it to ride good when it's done.

Don, some people prefer to run without shocks and they say it works for them. You can try it both ways. My choice was mostly cosmetic at first, but I liked the ride, so they stayed on. :)

Is that as low as it will go? The clearance is about what I have. It hasn't rubbed yet. :)

I had an adjustable beam adjusted all the way down and it sat right where I wanted it, but the ride was a bit harsh. So, on the advice of my good friend Murzi I removed the shocks and reduced air pressure in the front tires to 15 lbs, and the ride is much improved.

I put dropped spindles on it and raised the beam a little. It still sits right and seems to have plenty of suspension now. Thanks for the input from everyone.
