Rear Torsion Bars

Postby Epimetheus » 04 Wed Jun, 2008 8:18 pm

Anybody have any recommendations on what rear torsion bars to use? Since I have the custom chassis I have no starting point. I know that the spring rate increases with diameter and decreases with length. I just don't know where to start. I am building a road buggy so I want tight, stiff handling, but I also don't want to be beat to death on a bumpy road either (such as the city of Houston streets around my house - gotta love city financed road repairs).

I'm pretty much open to suggestions at this point.

Is it normal to have absorbed more voltage than most household appliances?

The spring rate is stiffer with the shorter bars, as well as the diameter.
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!

I used a 26mm short bar in my buggy.
I lower the setting and used adjustable
spring plates to get ride and stance that
I wanted. It worked for me.
