Heat Risers

Are you single carb guys using them? My dual cannons have the flanges but are not drilled out. I was told not to bother drilling them unless I plan on running the buggy in cold weather.

What say you?

With a single carb, I highly recommend you drill them out, in spite of what you have been told. I was told the same thing, and the first time the weather got just a bit cool, my carb wanted to ice up right after start up.
So, I drilled a hole in mine, and that solved the problem. I drilled a 1/4" hole, but if you can drill even larger than that, then I'd suggest doing that.

Thanks.

You answered my next question as to what size hole to drill also.

But first I broke off one of my exhaust studs, so I have to drill that out and retap the hole. It was the last one, all the other ones turned right off, even got the nasty rusty bolts off the heat risers with no problem. The last one broke right off. :(
