Bosch 010

Got to looking around in the samba forums awhile about distributor and carb combos for the ghia.
Seems the Bosch 010 is a good choice for non Vacume cars over the 009,
the dreaded flat spot.
so any way, Man I sure wish I had an 010!
got to looking around the net and they seem pretty pricey about $130
rebuilt.

so an after thought was wonder what I have all around here
seems I have two aftermarket 009 s in the cars now. YUCK!
I have an 043905205 SVAD in the parts ben?
got to wondering what the old purple buggy had on it so I went diging in the shed and found a Bosch 010 WOW !!!!!!
all this time just hiding in a pile of stuf.
that at one time was out in the rain
amaizing what you can still find laying around.
seems to be good with no slop and turns freely all be it needs cleaning.
I will probobly go and have it rebuilt and put it in the buggy.
seems to be the choice for the engine guys with 20 deg advance at 2500 rpm
the SVAD will proobly go on the ghia with a rebuilt 34 pict.
save the 009 for the parts box LOL

Steve, I just put one in my vert. WOW what a difference! I love it.

Here are parts numbers to build it. Available at none other than your local CARQUEST. or anyone else that carries Standard Ignition Products.

Here are the Standard Ignition Part numbers

GB324 ROTOR
GB 3161 POINTS
GB 402 CAP
FD 75 CONDENSOR

I used a Ford condensor because it was common and always available at any parts store. I was even able to get a old NOS dark brown cap.

the 010's are good dizzys. but on your advance to get the best out of your motor you need to run it at 28* to 30* full advance. full advance happens anywhere from 2000 to 3000 rpm's depending on the dizzy

Rebuild???? I took a can of Seafoam Deep Creep and sprayed the heck out of the inside, let it soak overnight and then blew it out with air. Smooooooth as silk. The seafoam cleaned the gunk and lubed it at the same time. I imagine WD40 would do the same thing. Try that first. Install it and watch the timing pulley with a strobe as you rev it. You will know right away if it is advancing smooth or not.

Oh yea, I topped it off with some semi gloss black for the added touch of class.

I run 32BTDC with no problems.

This sounds like a Warranty Issue...
