Bill,

You need 90 weight gear oil; I bought SuperTech 80W-90 GL-5 at WalMart. It comes in a quart bottle with a pointed tip for squirting in the hole, still a messy job. I'm sure you can find something similar at any auto parts store.

Bill, I run Eaton 75w-90 synthetic gear oil in my transaxle. If Eaton Corp gaurantees their rear ends in our Peterbilt 18-wheelers up to 750,000 miles if they run the synthetic gear oils, then I think it'll hold up to my VW. They also guarantee the transmissions to the 750K if ya run the 50 weight gear oil.
Manx 2 that's really buggin' me and I love it.
