Postby Aquabuggy » 14 Thu Aug, 2008 9:29 pm

What size tires are y'all running on the front of your rail?
I'm planning to run the biggest tire I can fit on the rear probably 31's but up front is it best to keep em small like a 165x15 or go with a taller 700x15 or ??

Thanks

We plan on using it on the road, in the sand at the beach and lite off roading, if I can find a place to go off road :(

Id like to run 700x15 but my concern is if I go with the 700x15 they have fairly aggressive tread will they throw sand in my face on the beach?

I second that.
be prepaired to eat some dirt on a rail whatever tire you put on.
there is a reason they have mesh floors LOL
if it aint broke, break it then fix it

My solution to the sand problem was to only make right hand turns. (think about it) ;-)

And keep your mouth shut when you ride in it.
That will keep the sand out.

Is there any good way to put a windshield in a rail?
It would need to be removable you know for inspection time ;-)

Why did I cave in on this rail :? just when I started to kinda half way figure out how to build glass buggies.
She wore me down I guess

Chris look at my buggy at the round up.
Why would you want to remove it .
You know it will stop sand.

That is so true David! Especially in water. My wife just about refused to get in the rail after a couple of sand blasts and street baths.

Chris if you need a piece of lexan I can get you one. We just happen to have some where we work right now and I can get you a piece if you can give me dimensions. If you are going to Boerne I can bring it.

Chris,

Using the winshield is a good idea, rails often kick up objects more formidable than sand and water, - driftwood and aluminum cans so be cautious out there especially of the driftwood.

 I don't want any part of that.

If it was up to me this rail would be out of here! The more I work on it the less I like it and I didn't care for it much to start with ;-)
Id much rather be working on the new aqua long body

Now that I said that y'all better not tell her. Most of the trash talk I do on here she could care less about but when it comes to this rail thing thats a diffrent story.

I put the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM's all around my rail. 215/75R15 in front and 325/60R15 on the rear. Now I will say, I was very concerned with rear clearance and I overlook the front clearance, so I can get tire rub to my rail if I turn to hard. Rear clearance to torsion bar is 8mm.

I was all over Surfside beach 2 weeks ago and of course there is some sand getting moved around, but it is all based on speed and movement and even after a crazy donut ride, I never thought it was an issue.

I just started planning a windshield frame, with a true windshield glass installed into, but still able to remove it for inspection. Won't be ready for Round Up...

These tire are here to stay...

Is this gonna cut it at inspection time? I don't think so but thought Id ask before I go to all the trouble of installing a mechanical e-brake.

Ken, I see you upgraded your pedal assembly. How do you like the slide mount? Im thinking of doing that as well, with the wife at 5'3 (and a 1/4 cant forget that) and me at 6'3 somethings gotta give and there's no room for seat sliders.

Love the slide... It is very quick and easy to use. Four mount wings nuts, one throttle wing nut and the mount rear pin and slide away...
