Tire size

Postby Fred » 09 Tue Jun, 2009 8:21 pm

I recently bought tires for my buggy, 295-50R-15 rear 27" tall and 235-70R-15 front 26.5 tall. I put em on the bare pan with no motor or body and the front is about the same height as the rear. it looks as though with motor weight the rear will be lower than the front. I guess my question is are the front tires too big? If any body has been through this and has any suggestions or experience with this issue Id like to hear it. The guy at the tire store said I can trade in the fronts if i need to, I dont really want to mess with the front beam if I can avoid it. thanks Fred

Fred, I think everyone will have there own taste/opinion when it comes to tire size.
I had the same size rear tires on my aqua buggy but up front I was running 215x60x15 hope this helps.

Chris is right. Everyone has their own taste. I have 205x60x14 in front. I also have 14" wheels in front and 15" in back. 295x50x15 in back give it a nice stance but still needed 2 1/2" dropped spindles, so I got out the check book one more time.

Is that beam adjustable on the aqua car? are those easy to install? My front rims are 15X6 I guess my real Question is is the body and stuff gonna squash the front end down at all? It is currently against the snubber pegs kind of topped out. I am gonna mock up the body and engine this weekend and see how it sits, I'll submit a pic. Thanks Fred

I think the wheels were 15x7
Yes it was an adjustable beam and it's really not all that hard to install adjusters or you can buy a beam with them already installed.

Your body/ gas tank/ etc. will probably not bring the front down very much do the adjusters now and you will be much happier later.

As much as I have admired Aqua Buggy everytime I was around it, I just noticed the emblem on the front of the hood. What was that?

Looks like the same logo on the TexasBuggy T-shirt I got from Bobby.

Oh yea, I seem to remember something about a T shirt from Bobby

That's a personal joke between Bobby and I.

At any rate, is that what it is Chris?

Yep it's the Texasbuggy logo. I had poly seats in the aqua buggy so when people would ask what it stood for I would say the T.B. was for Tired Butt   Dang I miss that aqua buggy  she was my first.
Here's a close up of the logo on the orange buggy.

That's a good looking logo. Is that a decal or actual emblem?

I think I may have said it before, but Aqua Buggy was the springboard for my deciding how I wanted my car to look.
