Can anyone in the Victoria area come assist me and my dad in getting our buggy running right. It doesn't seem to want to hold an idle.We would appreciate it a lot.

Could be the idle cut off valve? Do you have 12 volts there? Should be a wire going to the carb?

Help

Postby Jim B » 22 Mon Jun, 2009 8:51 pm

How long has it been since the buggy was running?
If it has been sitting for quite a while, it may have the carb idle circuit gummed up. If not sitting for a while, I would be looking for vacuum leak.

I'm in Victoria but don't know anything about progressive carbs, from what Ive read they are very hard to tune.
You could probably find more info on your progressive at the samba.

start by cleaning your jets even a small piece of dirt or gum can clog the idel jet

two sloted screws on front and back of carb NOT the ones with the springs those are air bypass screws leave them alone for now.

also see if you can find any air leaks around any of the joints up to the head, carb cleaner should work but be carefull
the samba should have several articals on tuning a weber progressive
tuning is not to bad its jetting it that takes awhile
they are notoreusly over jeted.
if it aint broke, break it then fix it
