Well I have never seen a VW wiper be "variable" speeds. I have seen them be two speed and this is how you wire that:

There may be a kit out there for intermittent wipers...maybe JCWhitney?

You also have to have a wiper thats designed for two speeds to have them operate that way.

I gave up and put a push button under the dash. I had it all figured out and it would work consistently, until I buttoned it all up, then it wouldn't work. I tried it several times and got tired of taking it all apart over and over so I cheated.

That's gonna help me a lot. When I first built the buggy, I didn't think I needed wipers. I was never going to drive it in the rain. Guess what??? I have been caught in the rain more than once. It seems this club does not know how to schedule an event without rain. So before I trashed my donor bug, I scavanged the wiper motor. It's been seating on my work bench for about a year. At least now I can wire it and see if it is any good. Thanks

I've actually wondered if we should market the club as rain makers. You know, "your area having a drought? Call the Texas Manx Club, guaranteed results!"

the ground connection is actually a screw instead of a blade, took me a minute to figure that one out.
