Brake Question

So I'm getting ready to bleed the brakes Saturday night, and adjust all the stars to get the brakes close, then get in to pump the pedal, and pump once, tight, pump again tighter, pump again and all the way to the floor. The second brake light switch blew all apart and drained.

First question is this common, or did I just get a bad switch. Second question, with a dual master and the volvo resevoir with the separate chambers, shouldn't I still have had some pedal for the other cylinder? Isn't that the point of a dual master?

I like the brake shoes to be making contact with the drums. It makes bleeding much easier. Back them off after bleeding.

I never heard of a switch blowing out. Must have been bad. Could you have cracked it during installation?

Yes, you should have had some brakes with the set-up you have.

Check the free play in the rod between the peddle and the master cyl.
you should be able to rattle the rod a little.

Got maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch play in it.

Its not under pressure now though. Seems to me it was a lot closer when I set it up initially.
