good info in here:

You can run the 44's on the 1776, but may have to do some vent/jetting changes to get them to work well. Really depends on the rest of your engine set up. You said your running a 110 cam.. how about heads? Ported? Valve Size? If you have too big of a venturi for your engine, its going to slow the air speed down in the carb and make tuning difficult, and make the bottom end (or low rpm range) feel kinda soggy. Just the opposite, you can have too small of a venturi and have a great crisp and responsive throttle, but be limited on the total RPMs you can turn due to flow limitations.
In all honesty, I would go for the 44's, but I would also factor in the cost of changing the vents down to something sized well your your head/valve size. Vents are only $8 each from CB performance for the 44's. Not a ton of money, but those and jet changes when tuning will add up (plus you have to multiply all your parts costs by four). The advantage of the 44's is resale, and the ability to tune them up or down for a wide range of engine combos.
