gaskets for heads?

I'm replacing the heads on our sand-rail and i cant remember if the heads need a gasket between them and the cylinders.

Nope there is no head gasket.

yea its running buy for some reason cylinder 4 wont fire,and the valves wont adjust right,we suspect its a bad head so we are just going to buy new heads for it.
