Stereo Install??

Postby jtc442 » 30 Fri Apr, 2010 9:34 pm

Anyone have suggestions on the best way to install a stereo in a manx style buggy? Or is it even worth doing? Id sure hate to cut a hole in the dash and not be able to hear it. Just want suggestions if anyone has done it. Thanks!!

I just mounted a small motorcycle amplifier under the dash. It has an iPod input which is what we use.

I installed a stereo in the dash with 6x9's in the side pods. I can't hear it going down the road. Just at the red lights. I'd rather listen to the pipes anyway.

I bought it on ebay. It was similar to this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-2-CH-Motorcycle-Amp-500w-Amplifier-w-Audio-Input-/390139971383?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item5ad6278737

Then used an iPod to RCA adapter cord. I put a couple of marine speakers under the dash as well. The speaker placement wasn't so good, it sounds a little muffled.

There was some really good idea's on the samba a while back. How about using some Fiero/Miata seats that have the speakers in the head rests?

i went ahead and ordered the 500 watt amp that is posted above. gonna go that route and see how it works. i think it will be fine. our main cruise is around 45 to 50 mph, well, for now at least, so i should be able to hear it fine. after im used to the way it drives and handles, i might get it out on the highway and see what itll do, but not yet. ive only had it for two months now, so im still unsure of its reliability.
