David O. H block question

Postby Aquabuggy » 28 Sun Jan, 2007 8:55 pm

I picked up a dual port :? H block engine today.(obviously converted to DP)
Im thinking someone told me the H block is a good one to avoid because, it has a tendency to pull head studs out of the block.
Is this true?

Thanks

No, but then all blocks when being rebuilt, should have the blocks inserted. This myth comes from the blocks being the ones used when Volkswagen first used the deccel arm on the carburetors, and the result was that the engine temperatures increased a lot when the car was deccelerating. The result was that the studs pulled.
The block will be fine, but you need to know what size you are going to build so that the right size inserts can be installed before you build it!
