BUGGY ROUNDUP XI

Postby Bill K » 05 Mon Jun, 2017 2:49 pm

Here we go for Buggy Roundup XI.

I'll start with the flier below.

As most of you know, the Roundup has its roots in the Texas Hill Country. As you can see from the flier, this year's Roundup will be in Kerrville, Texas.
So, I'm titling this year's Roundup BACK TO THE HILLS EDITION

Obviously, there will be details following, but for now the Roundup has a block of rooms reserved at the YO Ranch Resort in Kerrville, Being a Holiday Weekend made it a bit difficult to get a block of rooms at a motel, and to get a decent rate. The best I could do was $134 / night at the YO. If you call for a reservation tell them you are with the "Dune Buggy Club".

I have a block of 10 rooms reserved at the YO Hotel.

I checked and we have 7 of the rooms booked, so there are three rooms left.

So, if you are on the fence about coming, jump off and join us for a great time.

I've been asked about T Shirts for the Roundup. Unfortunately, I'm in the simplify mode, so I'm sorry, but there won't be any this year.

However, I'd love to see folks wearing past Roundup shirts. :D

Hey Bryan, I'm sure you know that stepping on the clutch pedals is great physical therapy for your knees! A good long drive in your buggy will be good for you :-)

I must say that Bryan's surgery was a 100% success regarding his beer drinking. I perceived no stiffness or hesitation with his ability to lift or consume the alcohol. He's walking pretty good too!

Due to the storm the chances of us making it to the Roundup are getting slim. We look forward to meeting up with everyone and taking the cruises months in advance. So if we cant make it we hope you all have a great time and we will catch up on the next one. Also if for any of you that was affected by the storm we wish you well and hope your recovery is an easy road.
P.S. - The buggy is high and dry.

For those of you staying at the YO, they have a trailer parking area and our rooms should be close to that area.

We hope to be pulling out tomorrow morning and I want to wish everyone Safe Travels and I'll see you at the Meet & Greet.

I just checked with the Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau and they have informed we that there doesn't appear to be a gasoline problem there.

Good to hear Bill.

There is a growing shortage here in the DFW area. Filled the buggy at noon, in a line of about 15 cars and went back with the pickup about 4 PM and no gas. Found a station about 10 miles away and was able to fill-up with about 25 cars in line at that point.

Radio is reporting it is likely an artificial/panic driven shortage (at least at this time) due to unusual run on gas that exceeded the typical supply schedule. We'll see...

Regardless we have gas and are coming!! If anyone knows of other supply issues on the northern travel approach let us know.

Many thanks.

I have to retract what I said about gas in Kerrville. The reports I am not getting is that it's not readily available, and there are long lines.

I would have to travel the IH10 corridor and can't get to Kerrville on one tank. I've called up and down the corridor and I am told quote: "It's a Crapshoot".

Posing a major problem for me. :x :x :x

A close friend of mine lives in Boerne and he said all gas stations in his area are out of gas. GasBuddy.com shows only 3 gas stations in Kerrville have gas. I can get to Kerrville on one tank, I'm just concerned with the return trip. I'm trying to decide what to do.

We decided to go for it. I've heard the fuel shortage was created by a panic on social media.

Please don't let this go to your head, but as a group you all are the nicest and most friendly, of any car enthusiasts we have ever met. Thank you so much for letting Johana and I join in on Saturday for the show & shine, then cruise and lunch. Thank you Ken and Delia for sharing your table with us and a very special thanks goes to Bob and Connie for retrieving my hat that launched off my head when we got on Hwy 16. I was afraid to stop for it, from fear of the "new guys" causing a buggy pile up. Thanks again everyone and hope to see you again real soon.

A great time was had by all at the Round-Up, hosted by Bill K in Kerrville, over the Labor Day weekend. Thank you for another great time and great gathering of great paople.

Those of you who mentioned "can't wait for the next get together", the next get together is the Brenham or Bust (BoB) October 6-8, 2017 in Brenham, Texas. This event is posted under the Events tab section. Go take a look...

There are still only 5 rooms available in Brenham for the BoB. The 10 room block is held until September 15th, due to the Antique Show that will be there the week before us.

Lets keep this good time going.

See you there.
