Mari Gras Weekend - Jefferson Tx Feb. 28 & Mar 1

We are planning on attending the Mardi Gras weekend in Jefferson Texas on Feb. 28 and March 1. There is a parade on Saturday. We will take care of the reservation for the parade but we need to know who would like to join us. Please post a reply if you would like to be registered for the parade.

The parade registration form says they request the participants throw beads but no candy.

We drove to Jefferson yesterday to check out campgrounds and lodging. We will be contacting the rv parks to try and get a reservation for the rv's. There are a lot of B&B's there in town. Marshall (which is about 15 miles from Jefferson). Has several nice looking hotels. We hear everything books up quick so if you are planning on making this you might want to book early. Once we have a rv location we will post that as well.

Made our reservation this afternoon. The park is located on hwy 59 about 12 miles from jefferson.

Flo has talked with the parade coordinators and found out that we can order beads by the case and pick them up in Jefferson for $50 per case. Who wants beads???? Please let us know. Thanks.

Weather permitting, we'll be there. No Buggy, but will have a travel trailer. Can't wait to see some Buggy Buds. It's been way too long for me.

Well, unfortunately we are going to have to miss this trip. We have a Brother-in-law and Linda's sister both in different hospitals. From the reports we've gotten so far we will need to be in town. In both cases it's doesn't appear life threatening, but there is a lot of suffling visits, giving rides, etc.

I hope you all have a grand time, and Linda and I will sure miss seeing you all.

WOW! It looks like the weather man has forecast rain on Friday and Sunday. Saturday looks beautiful. I am wondering right now if we should make the 5 hr trip in the rain, to and from this event.

Anyone else having these thoughts?

Yes Saturdays weather looks great. Since this is the main day to have the buggies out that will be great. If you have to pull your buggy on an open trailer then rain is not a good thing.

Also understand the 5 hour trip issue in bad weather

For us staying in the rv's we are going down on Thurs evening. It is about a 2 1/2 trip for us.

We have to cancel this event, due to the rain expected. I tow the buggy on a tow bar and the road grime and rain would not be good for the buggy. Y'all have fun and we hope to see y'all soon.

We would like to thank our friends for coming to Jefferson and sharing the weekend with us. The parade was so much more than we expected. Next time we need more beads!!!!
