Car Life Buggy Article

Postby jpbaird » 26 Fri Sep, 2014 6:54 pm

Picked up this old copy of Car Life Magazine this week that dates from August '68. What a hoot and a snapshot of buggy history frozen forever!

Two page story is about the crossover of buggies from sand to street and featured a look at newly introduced Jeffries Kyote, Empi Imp and Bushwacker.

Also includes an add from Bruce in the back cautioning "Beware of copycats...". Pretty cool.

A nice look back in time: Thanks for sharing.

In 1968 the cover said: "Move Over World, Here Come the Japanese". And, the rest is history.

Yeah I was in kindergarten and likely more interested in bikes than buggies at the time.

The other cover story is about the earliest Austin Healeys and Corvettes hitting the bottom of their depreciation curve and advising collectors that it is time to buy... Sound advice indeed!!! Ha.

circa 1968...I was interested in bikes and buggies.
I'm surprised the Manx model lasted this long...only took another 30 years to get a real one!
The StingRay bike is in the garage awaiting its rebuild...
