Has anybody built there own roll cage? What size pipe did you use? have you ever used a pipe bender from Northern tool? How does that work?

The bender from Harbor freight is a pipe bender not a tube bender.

Without modification it will only kink the tube.

The modifications that are needed are on The Samba.

Neil at Hawkeye Buggies is a great source for a "show" cage. I used him for my Manx build.

If you can weld there are some pretty inexpensive cages @ www,mooreparts.com in the off road accessories section. I've caged a couple of race cars and If you dont know the math for subtracting the curves you're in for some headaches. I really recommend at least buying a kit, believe me, you'll have plenty of trimming to do even with a prefab cage. JMO, Fred. P.S. they come with instructions and they're already notched!!

I think you can use JB weld as fill material and powder coat it.

Thanks I finally found it. I'll try that this weekend since it doesn't look good for flying. It will keep me out of trouble.

You can use lab metal and smooth it out and powder coat over it no problem.

yep it is like a JB weld, is sandable and takes the electric charge to adhere the powder.
