Is there a special way to put shifter tube in place. I have trouble getting my buggy in 1st and 2nd gear. Not all the time but a lot of times.

The method of doing that depends upon the style of the shift rod connector. Is it a late model or an early model?
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!

I am not sure it is the one that is retangular with a pin that goes through the bushing to hold it on the shift tube and it slides over the shaft on the trans and is held in place with a small bolt. Hope this helps.

Put the shifter into first gear and loosen the whole thing up and see if you can move the shifter to the right or left and get the thing to go into the gears.....if not warp the shifter connector in the direction that it need to go to get it to do that.......first of all, make sure you don't have loose or missing bushing.
