Engine Fan Shroud Screen

[Classic Manx 71]

Looking for good ideas on attaching the debris screen to the doghouse fan shroud. (See picture below.)
Is welding a sheet metal lip around the inlet hole the best way ?
What about clearance to the Manx body? Does anyone know the space measurement?

Those will not fit a doghouse cooler, unles you weld a piece of metal to the back of the shroud. As for clearance, I don't think there is enough room to get it to fit.
Remember, these units were designed for the early shrouds....as they were made before the doghouse units were designed.
