Days like yesterday and today bring this kind of thing to mind. Who has pics of tops? Be it Bikini or full tops. I plan on driving mine as a daily when it is up and running so this will come in handy. I've seen some great idea's on the Samba but thought I would ask the locals.

My buggy used to have a white soft top with a frog shaped rear window, it also had soft side doors like you see on jeeps with zippered windows. I hope at some point down the road, I can recreate them, but with losing the windshield that had the grove on the outside of the frame that they slid into, I don't know if that will be possible.
It was pretty close to being waterproof even in a decent rain storm with all the goodies on it.
