Title and vin ????

Postby Pinball » 05 Sat Dec, 2009 12:43 pm

I have some questions about titling my project and hope some of you folks can help me. Purchased a '74 Super a while back that turned out to need more body work than I had planned. Not long after, a good friend of mine GAVE me a pan(already shortened) two I-Beams of unknown origin, an old suitcase style engine(badly in need of a rebuild), a solid Manx "style" body, large box full of misc. parts, and lastly, a title. Problem is, the frame no longer has a VIN on it... Nice. :x So I have a '65 title, of course I have the title for the '74, which I would have no problem using since I am parting it out anyway and will use the transaxle, motor and other misc. parts. I guess, my question is: what are my options as far as making sure I can get this thing titled before I sink too much labor and $$$$ into it. I appreciate any advice y'all can give. Will post some pics as soon as the weather clears up enough.

Thanks again,
Brian

Go to the search page and use VIN Title and you will get a few good threads on this subject. Come back here if your still not sure, maybe someone will chime in with something specific for you.

what happened to the VIN on the shortened chassie
should be on the tunnel behind the E brake slot?

If you just plan to register it in your name and drive it all the need to see is your title in your name then you can get it registered for your safety inspection.
if it aint broke, break it then fix it

Yeah....SHOULD be there, but unfortunately someone took care of that somewhere down the line. Grind marks where it used to be!!

Don't plan on selling it...but you just never know. So I would like everything to be legit. (atleast as much as possible.)

Gonna be a slow build, so I guess I have plenty of time to figure out what I'm gonna do.

Thanks,
Brian
